Obituary: Anne Wells Branscomb, a pioneer in Information Policy

By Tony Rutkowski

Date:November 1997
Section: People in the News

With great sadness, I'd like to convey that Anne quietly slipped away from us October 2, 1997, at her home in Concord, Mass., with her husband Lewis and family by her side.

In addition to being a most gracious and endearing person who touched and motivated so many people's lives and careers in this field around the world, she significantly shaped the universe of cyberspace policy and was - perhaps more than any other person-the founding visionary of the entire domain of the law of global networks through her decades of work and leadership.

Lewis advises that notes to the family can be sent to: ABranscomb@aol.com

Some brief biographical information about this extraordinary woman's life can be found at http://www.ngi.org/AWB/

Harvard University is expected to put up a more extensive site shortly.
