Strawn new NSF division head
George O. Strawn is the new head of the Division of Networking and Communications Research and Infrastructure within the National Science Foundation's Computer and Information Science and Engineering directorate. He served previously as the NSFnet program director and comes from the Iowa State University Department of Computer Science and Computation Center, where he spearheaded the development of distributed computing facilities for research and education and has led several statewide networking initiatives. In 1969 Strawn earned a Ph.D. in mathematics from Iowa State, where he remained for most of his career. His professional research interests include programming languages, library automation and the management of academic computing organizations. |
