CRA Announces 2004 Service Award Winners CRA is pleased to announce the winners of its 2004 service awards, which will be presented at CRA’s Conference at Snowbird, Utah, on July 12, 2004. Two Distinguished Service Awards will be made this year to David Clark, Senior Research Staff, MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, and to Barbara Simons, ACM Past-President and USACM Co-Chair. Maria Klawe, Dean of Engineering and Applied Science at Princeton University, and Nancy Leveson, Professor, Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT, will jointly receive the A. Nico Habermann Award for their role as founding co-chairs of the highly successful CRA-W Committee. CRA presents these awards, usually annually, to individuals for outstanding service to the computing research community. The Distinguished Service Award recognizes service in the areas of government affairs, professional societies, publications, or conferences, and leadership that has a major impact on computing research. The A. Nico Habermann Award honors the late A. Nico Habermann, former head of NSF's Computer and Information Science and Engineering Directorate. This award is given to an individual who has played a leadership role in aiding members of underrepresented groups within the computing research community. It recognizes work in areas of government affairs, educational programs, professional societies, and public awareness.
