So Renee has declared me over the learning curve. I'm now on the down hill slope side of the mountain. I hope summer doesn't just race by now that we've hit the other side! I kinda like having fresh fruit in the markets and the potential for a quick dip in the outdoor pool occasionally. Hello July! It's nice to see you here! I hope you're not too much in a hurry. These should be the lazy days of summer, n'est pas? Well lets see if I was lazy or on the ball now...
So we fiddled around with changing our declarative memory representation for our bottom up models for a while. Hoping by doing this to find a bottom up cueing model that would fit human results in this case. We've tinkered with our new idea and come to the same conclusion: It just doesn't work. But to be fair, to see if this memory representation we've adopted is feasible, we should return to our top down models and see if they still function properly with this new representation.
Did ya catch that all? No. I wouldn't have either. Fortunately, it's my job to figure that out so that's what I'm doing this week. Re-implementing the top down models with this modified declarative memory set up so that we can compare results to see if our changes were even a good idea (which I think they were). Of course, anytime I'm allowed near one of these models, something explodes, so this one day task has dragged itself out with bugs. But It's been pretty good. I've got a couple top down variants finished up to look at and hopefully I am duly rewarded when the data comes rolling in.
That's all the juice I got for now kiddos. Cross you fingers! I don't wanna re-implement... I just don't wanna!
We had another women symposium this week. Renee was able to attend this one so it was even nicer. It was neat, I don't really get to see much of Renee in a social environment so there were definitely some changes there! I don't mean she acts different but I didn't know anything about her husband or her taste in movies.. or.. anything really! It was a smaller group this time around, and over oodles of cheese and beers and juice we chatted about the ordering of names on papers in other disciplines, and how we'd change the curriculum, and what we all thought of keanu reeves and what our favourite movies and video games were. Overall, really interesting. All I'll say is it's definitely different to see your cmput 272 professor switch off the logic puzzles and turn on the movie jokes. Well till next time dearies, Tah!
