1999 CNSF Exhibition and Reception
CRA co-sponsored the fifth annual Coalition for National Science Funding Exhibition and Reception, which was held Wednesday evening, May 19, 1999, in the Rayburn House Office Building. It was attended by ten Members of Congress and more than a hundred Congressional staff. CRA also produced an exhibit for the event, "Computers that See Motion," featuring the work of John Gannon and Larry Davis of the University of Maryland. Gannon and Davis had an opportunity to demonstrate their work and discuss information technology research policy with staff from the offices of various Maryland legislators as well as staff of the House Science Committee. CNSF is an alliance of organizations, including CRA, that support the National Science Foundation's efforts to maintain America's pre-eminence in basic research. The purpose of the CNSF Exhibition is to showcase the crucial role of the NSF in meeting the Nation's research and education needs. In March CNSF issued a statement, co-signed by CRA, calling for a fifteen percent increase in the NSF budget.
