Outstanding Undergraduate Awards 2000-2001: Nomination Information
Deadline is October 23, 2000
The Computing Research Association seeks nominations for its seventh annual Outstanding
Undergraduate Awards. A cash prize of $1,000 will be awarded to two undergraduate student winners, one female
and one male, who are majoring in computer science, computer engineering, or an equivalent program. Nominees must attend a university
or college located in the United States or Canada, and must be nominated by the department chair or a faculty member.
Criteria for
the selection of winners are listed below.
Nomination Procedures
A nomination package consists of the following items:
- Nomination form [print here]
- Nominee's resume (two-page maximum)
- Nominee's transcript of academic record
- Verification statement signed by department chair.
[This should simply state that the student is in good standing
and eligible for the award.]
- Letters of support from two supporting nominators (two-page maximum)
- One-page description highlighting the student's research or other achievements.
[The student should prepare
this statement. Include a research title; describe the significance of the work as well as the student's specific contributions.]
A department may nominate more than one candidate. While it is preferable for nominations to be submitted by the candidate's
department chair, nominations may also be submitted by individual faculty members.
The nomination must reach CRA no later than October 23, 2000. Four copies of the complete nomination package
are required. One transcript must be an original.
